The Education Ministry announced today that the school year in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza will be extended by one month this summer for students from kindergarten through 9th grade. The stated reason: the security situation, and the desire to minimize unsupervised movements by students during times of danger. The extra month will be jointly financed by the Education Ministry, local authorities, and parents. Menachem Tzabari, head of the Education Department in the Binyamin Regional Council, told Arutz-7 today that this \"exciting announcement\" can be reduced to saying that the Education Ministry will subsidize a third of the costs of municipality-run summer camp activities. \"Every year we run these camps, but this year we asked for something else: an extension of the school year, just as was done for northern-community children during times of tension there. Unfortunately, however, the Ministry has budgetary constraints, and this is all it could do.\"
