Israel's most recent terrorism victim, soldier Oleg Shchaiat, was buried this afternoon in the Nazareth Illit military cemetery. Abducted last week by Arab terrorists, his body was discovered yesterday buried in a field within view of the neighborhood in which he lived.

Shchaiat was a soldier serving in an administrative capacity in the Kiryat Shmonah area, and was abducted while hitching a ride home in the lower Galilee. The police and General Security Service (Shabak) continue to pursue the murderers, operating chiefly under the assumption that they are residents of the area - i.e., Israeli-Arabs.

Public Security Minister Tzachi HaNegbi and Agriculture Minister Yisrael Katz, both of the Likud, say that the murderers should face the death penalty. Only one person has ever been executed by Israel's justice system: Nazi arch-murderer Adolph Eichmann.
