An Israeli man from Pisgat Ze'ev in Jerusalem was stabbed last night, apparently by an Arab. The victim was taken in moderate condition to a nearby hospital. He was walking in the Yemin Moshe neighborhood when he was attacked by someone he described as a young, tall Arab who ran away towards the eastern half of the city after the stabbing. Other witnesses also said they saw an Arab man running from the scene.
A week ago, Amir Simchon, 24, a Civil Guard volunteer, was murdered in a terrorist stabbing attack in Jaffa. In Jerusalem, on Feb. 8, 2002, Moran Amit, 25, of Kibbutz Kfar HaNasi was stabbed to death while walking in the Peace Forest in Talpiot. Four Arab youths were involved in the attack, and one of them later died of heart failure while they were being pursued and arrested by police.
It was released for publication today that on Friday, army forces discovered a 25-kg. bomb (55 lbs.) meant to explode and kill soldiers in Tubas in the Shomron. The bomb was discovered as a result of the arrest and interrogation of a Hamas terrorist from Tubas, who said that he received the bomb from his handlers in Shechem a month ago.
The Shabak (General Security Service) uncovered 85 Israeli-Arab terrorist cells since the beginning of the year 2000 - including 16 of them this year. The cells include over 200 Israeli-Arab citizens. Israel's security apparatus, said to be "most concerned" over these numbers, reports that the numbers of Israeli-Arab terrorists is growing steadily.
Other terrorist incidents since last night: An explosives vest ready for a suicide bomber to detonate was discovered this morning near Har Brachah in the Shomron. Kol Rina News Agency reports that IDF sappers destroyed it... An explosive device went off near Tzofim, north of Kalkilye, this morning; no one was hurt... Terrorists fired at workers on the partition fence near Tul Karem this morning; no one was hurt.
An Arab terrorist was killed last night in the course of attempting to kill IDF soldiers. The incident occurred north of Kadim in the northern Shomron; a loud explosion was heard, and an investigation turned up the remnants of the terrorist's body.
Hizbullah fired three times at IAF planes last night in the western sector of the border. No damage was recorded.
