John Morgan of Ireland, who was arrested four days ago in Ramallah on suspicion of being an IRA bomb expert helping train PA terrorists, was released today. Police escorted him to Ben-Gurion International Airport this afternoon, from where he will be flown to London.
The release came after it was ascertained that though he has the same name as the wanted terrorist, Morgan-the-terrorist is somebody else. The Israeli security bodies explained that the error stemmed from British intelligence that had advised that Morgan be checked. In fact, the Morgan who was detained is a left-wing activist, a member of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign and an operative for the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), an organization working towards the dismantling of the Jewish state. He came to Israel to show support for the PA.
