The investigators learned that 23 of the 132 employees of the catering company servicing IAI were infected with streptococcus. Health officials closed the kitchen of the aircraft firm and it will only be permitted to reopen after the infected employees are treated and declared healthy.
Another investigation has produced a different sort of "healthy" results for the prime minister. Attorney General Elyakim Rubinstein announced on Thursday that the investigation regarding Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s inappropriate contacts with the Israel Lands Administration was being closed. Rubinstein added that while Sharon's actions represented a serious conflict of interests, as well as a violation of a directive that he not involve himself in land decisions, there were no laws broken. Rubinstein was critical, however, of the prime minister’s ethical violations. A recent State Comptroller's report detailed Sharon’s actions, which involved an alleged attempt to influence a Lands Authority decision regarding the classification of agricultural lands that would have economically benefitted his family. At the time, the prime minister said he did not intervene.
