Meir Har-Tzion, one of the most outstanding officers of Unit 101, the IDF’s legendary counter-terrorist commando unit founded and headed by Ariel Sharon in the 1950s, has publicly called upon the right wing to fight against the Prime Minister's current policies.

Har-Tzion told the monthly journal Nekudah that he was surprised by Sharon’s newfound ideological and political positions. The reclusive military hero said that he maintains his opposition to these positions, even though the two former comrades discussed the matter in a personal conversation. Har-Tzion called upon Israelis to fight against the possibility of a Palestinian state in Judea, Samaria and Gaza as if it were someone other than Sharon behind the idea. Such a state, Har-Tzion told the journal, will be a "disaster 1,000 times greater than the Oslo Accords."

In his autobiography, Warrior, Sharon wrote about Meir Har-Tzion, “[He] was the fighter who had been perhaps the most talented of all the Unit 101 people.... [H]is exploits were famous throughout the army.”
