In that attack, Dr. Shmuel Yorfost - a surgeon in Afula's HaEmek Hospital who operated on many terrorist victims himself over the past years - was seriously wounded in both eyes. He lost one eye, and could not see out of the other - until a few days ago. When he first saw his three children, he told Maariv,

"I saw images, and I was able to see what color clothes they were wearing... This is of course may seem like a small detail, but for me it is the entire world. I feel so great, and am filled with hope - even though I am afraid to fall into false hopes. Only someone who was able to see and then suddenly lost his sight can understand how great this is. Take anyone, bind up his eyes for ten minutes, then have him sit down, and ask him to get up and walk around. Maybe then he'll be able to understand a little of what someone experiences who for a month was not sure if he'd ever be able to see again."
