The Supreme Court ruled today that the residents of the Mitzpeh Yitzhar outpost in the Shomron received a hearing last month and do not need to sound their claims again. The road is now paved for the army to dismantle the outpost, where three families and several bachelors live in five permanent structures and a few caravans. Hundreds of "peaceful resistors" have already arrived to try to impede the removal and destruction of the location. Atty. Moti Mintzer, representing the outpost, says that the judgment refers only to three of the buildings, but that the others are not subject to dismantling.
Tel Chaim B, in eastern Beit El, might also be removed in the coming hours or days. Its plea to the Supreme Court was submitted this morning, but residents have little hope that it will be accepted.
This is just the beginning, however. The Yesha Council says that Prime Minister Sharon and Defense Minister Mofaz plan to dismantle and destroy a total of 94 settlement points throughout Yesha, and throw hundreds of Jewish families out of their homes. Among the outposts mentioned are Migron (between Psagot and Ofrah, 39 families), Tekoa D (south of Tekoa, 15 families, two years old), Eish Kodesh (just west of Shilo, eight families and several bachelors, in two permanent houses and several caravans), and many more.
The National Union and National Religious Party have said that if such a plan begins, they will quit the government. Many Likud MKs are also very much against Prime Minister Sharon's Road Map and Yesha policies.
