Fifty-five nations will be represented at a conference on anti-Semitism in Vienna, this coming June 19-20. The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) will sponsor the event, designed to address the problem of anti-Semitism and its manifestations in Europe, Central Asia and North America, and the role of governments and civil society in promoting greater tolerance.
Participating in the conference from the U.S. will be former New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani and Anti-Defamation League Director Abraham H. Foxman. "The importance of 55 nations coming together to discuss combating anti-Semitism cannot be overstated," Foxman said. "Now that they have acknowledged the problem, we hope to have a meeting of the minds in Vienna to take the fight against anti-Semitism to a new level of intensity."
Speakers will include Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel, the Foreign Minister of Bulgaria, a former Foreign Minister of Poland, and others.
