Rumors abound as to which populated outposts are on the list. Those that have been mentioned include Assaf, Nofei Nechemiah, the Gilad Farm, and others. Assaf, with seven families, is located in a strategic spot on the turnoff from north-south Highway 60 to Beit El, between Psagot and Ofrah. Nofei Nechemiah, with six families, is located near Rechelim, east of Ariel in central Shomron. It was re-established last month after being dismantled last year and after having received the proper authorization. The Gilad Farm, near Karnei Shomron, is owned by Ariel Sharon's friend Moshe Zar and is named for his son, terrorist victim Gilad Zar. Located on privately owned land, it was violently dismantled last year under orders from then-Defense Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer.

Defense Minister Mofaz announced this morning that the residents would not receive advance notice on the timing of the evacuations. This contrasts with a decision by the Knesset Interior Committee, which called today upon the police and army to dismantle outposts only after the residents have had a chance to pursue all possible legal avenues. The committee also called on the residents not to respond with violence, and on the authorities to "act with fairness towards the residents, to maintain their dignity and their property rights."
