Only a few hours after this morning's murderous attack, another Palestinian terrorist opened fire at Israelis at the Machpelah Cave in Hevron, one of Judaism's most sacred sites. A Border Guard policeman was wounded and is listed in "light-to-moderate" condition. Local emergency alert forces of the Avraham Avinu, Beit Hadassah and Beit Romano neighborhoods in Hevron were called to the scene and have taken up positions, defending against a possible terrorist infiltration.

In a grave incident that was overshadowed by the Shavuot holiday, Jerusalem residents David Shambik, 26, and Moran Menachem, 17, were stabbed and beaten to death in a crime that the police say was likely a terrorist crime. Their bodies were discovered on Wednesday in the brush south of the Hadassah Ein Karem Hospital in Jerusalem. The funerals of the two were held early and late this afternoon, respectively, and they were buried in Har HaMenuchot in Jerusalem.

A kefiya-clad Arab broke into the home of a Karmei Yosef resident this morning and tried to stab him. The intended victim recounted later that the attacker had "murder in his eyes… I knew that if I didn't fight him, he would kill me." In the ensuing fight, the terrorist dropped his knife and ran away. Karmei Yosef lies north of the Nachshon Junction between Jerusalem and Ashdod.

In other attacks this afternoon, terrorists opened fire at a group of Israelis standing near the Ganei Tal hothouses, and a roadside bomb was detonated alongside an armored IDF vehicle in northern Gaza; no one was hurt in either incident. IDF forces have been operating for about three weeks against Kassam rocket launching teams.

In yet another attack - albeit apparently less premeditated - three Arabs refused to identify themselves to guards in downtown Jerusalem this morning. Instead of producing the requested identification, the three Arabs attacked the guards. Police arrived on the scene and arrested the assailants.
