By a margin of nearly five to one, Americans oppose the Road Map's prohibition against Jewish construction in Judea, Samaria and Gaza, according to a national poll commissioned by the Zionist Organization of America. The poll, carried out by John McLaughlin & Associates among a scientific sample of 1,000 American adults on May 21, 2003, found that 61% say that Jewish construction in the above areas should be permitted. 63% say only Jews should be allowed to live there, while 9% said that only Arabs should be allowed. One-tenth of the respondents said that the "settlements" are the main obstacle to peace.
