The meeting between Ariel Sharon and Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) that was scheduled for today or tomorrow has been pushed off. The postponement was the result of a sudden announcement by the PA that Abu Mazen's "full schedule" did not allow the meeting to take place as planned. The meeting is now set for Wednesday, a few days before the planned Sharon-Bush-Abbas summit. Israel hopes that it will take place in Aqaba, but Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom said today that the Americans would decide the exact location and time "based on considerations of President Bush's security."
