The siege on the Jewish town of Homesh in the Shomron has been lifted. The only road leading to the community was closed last night after an explosive was found there. The army continued this morning looking for additional explosives - and found four of them. Only after soldiers safely detonated them was the road opened and the siege lifted.
The commander of Yasser Arafat\'s Force 17 was the one who gave the order to murder Petach Tikva-resident Ariel Jerafi near Tapuach three months ago. So states the indictment handed down last week against one of those involved in the murder, Haled Shabana, from the village of Sinjil near Shilo. Shabana\'s terrorist cell is also accused of the murders of Sara Lisha and the soldiers Amit Zana and Elad Valenshtein - who were shot and killed between Ofrah and Shilo last Nov. 14. Shabana, who was also charged with sheltering fugitives who participated in the murders, was ordered to be held until the end of the proceedings. A relative of Shabana\'s, 37-year-old Issa Mahmoud Shabana, was also charged with several counts of premeditated murder and sheltering fugitives.
IDF snipers succeeded in shooting and seriously wounding a major Hamas terrorist in Shechem this afternoon, while exchanges of gunfire were taking place nearby. The snipers took up positions on Mt. Gerizim, outside the city, and hit Hamoud el-Madani as he was standing at the entrance to the Balata refugee camp. El-Madani was responsible for many recent attacks on Israelis, including the car bombs in Netanya and Hadera.
Other incidents: Palestinians shot at an IDF force near Shavei Shomron last night, and at an IDF force near Halamish this evening. Israeli motorists near Shilo were attacked by Arab stone-throwers from the village of Sinjil this afternoon. No one was hurt in these incidents.
