The female security guard who was critically wounded in the terrorist attack in Afula on Monday, Hadar (bat Sarah) Gitlin, appears to have taken the first small steps towards a miraculous recovery. Her father Meir told Arutz-7 today that her condition has improved significantly: "We were at first worried about whether or not she would live, and then whether or not her leg would have to be amputated. These dangers passed... She woke up yesterday, and is no longer detached to life-support systems, and began talking this morning. She is of course at the beginning of a long road of rehabilitation and recovery - but at least we're at the beginning."
The attack in Afula claimed three lives. Avi Zrihan, 36, of Beit She'an, and Hassan Tawatha, 41, of the Arab village Jissar a-Zarka, were buried last week. The third victim was the security guard Kiril Shremko, 23, a new immigrant from the former Soviet Union who had just recently completed his army service. Israeli authorities located his family in Russia only at the end of last week, and he was buried this afternoon in Afula.
