President of Israel Isaac Herzog and First Lady Michal arrived at a polling station in Jerusalem's Rehavia neighborhood on Tuesday morning to exercise his democratic right to vote in the election for the 26th Knesset.
Addressing the press at the polling station, Herzog shared his feelings at the start of Election Day: "Michal and I are very proud to be here today as millions of Israelis will go to the ballot boxes and vote, and take their fates into their hands in a truly proud and dignified democracy."
The President remarked: "This is the story of Israel, an incredible country and incredible nation going to vote and deciding where we are heading."
He concluded by thanking the Election Committee and expressed his hope that "this day will go well with no disruptions, and wish well to my people of Israel, a wonderful nation, and success in these elections."
After voting, Herzog visited the Central Elections Committee at the Knesset in Jerusalem.
The President was accompanied by the Chair of the Central Elections Committee, Justice Noam Sohlberg, and the Acting Director General of the Committee, Adv. Dean Livne.
“I want to thank the Chair of the Central Elections Committee, Deputy President of the Supreme Court, Justice Noam Sohlberg, and the team of the committee headed by Dean Livne for managing and overseeing this incredible election process, with well over 7,300,000 Israelis eligible to vote today," Herzog stated at the conclusion of his visit.
“I wish the nation of Israel and all our beloved people great success on this election day. We hope to see the outcome of the elections tonight and over the next few days. Thereafter, all the results will be officially declared, and the elected parties will come to me for the next stage in the electoral and political process," he added.
