The Yesha Council plans its first protest demonstration against the current Sharon government - but emphasizes that it is not really "against" anyone. Spokesman Yehoshua Mor-Yosef told Arutz-7 today that Prime Minister Sharon's meeting with Abu Mazen and Muhammad Dahlan "does not jibe with a resolute war against terrorism, because the terrorists will realize that Israel is concentrating more on the diplomatic approach and less on the military. This is a problem we suffered from greatly under Rabin, and we don’t want to suffer from it again."
Mor-Yosef emphasized that the protest is not "against" the Sharon government, but rather "vis-a-vis" the Sharon government:
"We demand of Sharon that he fight terrorism, and not dialogue with it. Abu Mazen is a Holocaust-denier, as has certainly been frequently mentioned, and was one of the leaders of terrorism in the past, and still calls for attacks against Yesha residents and soldiers. In addition, Arafat still has total control over many of the PA security forces, thus that Abu Mazen is merely a puppet. We must not conduct negotiations while terror rages! This protest is actually very helpful to Sharon, because he'll be leaving for Washington on Monday, and he will have to show them that he has public pressure against - and that is our role in the campaign, even though we very much don't like to demonstrate."
The protest will be held this coming Saturday night, at 9:30PM, outside the PM's Residence in Jerusalem, where he is scheduled to be meeting with the PA officials.
