Close to 500 students currently participating in one-year programs in Israeli yeshivot are expected to gather in Machon Lev this evening to discuss a topic currently occupying their thoughts: Aliyah (immigration to Israel).
The event is sponsored by Aloh Naaleh, a grassroots group of prominent rabbis and laymen in Jerusalem aimed at encouraging North American Jews to consider aliyah. The students will hear Haifa Chief Rabbi She'ar-Yashuv Cohen and Rabbi Aaron Adler of Ramot speak on the importance of living and studying Torah in Israel. In addition, former yeshiva students who now live in Israel and AACI volunteers will man aliyah booths and answer questions, and a film produced by Nefesh B’Nefesh - the organization that sponsored the aliyah of over 400 Americans last year - will be shown. A similar program was held last week for yeshiva girls. For information, write to "Aloh-naaleh@aaci.org.il".
