Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi requested security protection from the US during the UN General Assembly in New York, according to Axios reporter Barak Ravid.
The US State Department conducted a threat assessment regarding potential threats against Araghchi and agreed to provide him with security personnel from the Diplomatic Security Service.
The arrangement comes as Iranian and US officials are expected to be in New York at the same time for the UN General Assembly.
