Gadi Eisenkot’s Yashar Party announced on Thursday that it would sign a surplus-vote agreement with Yair Golan’s Democrats Party.
From Eisenkot's perspective, the agreement with the Democrats is not his top choice, as he preferred to sign one with Yisrael Beytenu. However, Avigdor Liberman announced earlier in the day that his party signed a surplus-vote agreement with Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid's Together Party.
A statement by Eisenkot's party read: "In recent weeks, Yashar Chairman Gadi Eisenkot worked in various ways to best organize the Change and Hope Camp. The formation of the camp around four parties has, to our delight, created the ability to mutually and internally sign surplus-vote agreements, as a lesson from previous election campaigns."
"We congratulate the fact that, in the upcoming elections, every ballot of Israelis who seek change and the replacement of the October 7th failure government will go to one of the change parties and prevent the loss of votes. The Yashar Party will sign a surplus-vote agreement with the Democrats. We commend the agreement between the Together and Yisrael Beytenu parties. We are determined to continue in all ways to obtain victory, to carry out the will of the nation, and to form a Zionist and patriotic party that will replace the October 7th government."
The Democrats Party stated: "We commend the surplus-vote agreement with the Yashar Party and the cooperation in the entire change camp. In the upcoming election, the goal is clear: preventing the loss of votes, maximizing the camp's strength, and replacing the October 7th failure government."
