Over half a ton of gas in cylinders was found at a home in Isfiya and in a warehouse in Daliyat al-Karmel on Monday during an investigation conducted by the Lahav 433's National Unit for Fighting Financial Crime into suspicions of pirate gas trafficking.
The police suspect that the cylinders were transported from Judea and Samaria without authorization or safety measures.
Detectives from the unit, together with officers from Coastal Yassam, and in conjunction with the Gas Authority, searched the suspect's home in Isfiya and a warehouse in Daliyat al-Karmel. During the operation, the forces located a large number of gas cylinders which, according to the police, were stored dangerously.
The suspect allegedly imported the gas cylinders from Judea and Samaria and stored them behind his house and in the warehouse without a license or required safety measures. The police noted that the storage method created an environmental hazard.
The police also allege that the gas cylinders were sold to customers despite not undergoing the required safety inspections. According to the police, due to this, the cylinders could have constituted a danger to those using them.
All of the gas cylinders seized during the operation were confiscated. At the end of the search, they were transferred to the possession of the Gas Administration.
