A series of serious incidents involving the suspected poisoning of livestock and contamination of food and water sources has been uncovered near the Arab village of Al-Mu'eyyer, according to data compiled by the Binyamin Regional Council.
The council says that since June 2025, at least 11 incidents have been recorded involving the suspected dispersal of hazardous substances or the contamination of food and water sources used by grazing livestock near Alon Road.
The latest incident occurred last week, when two dead goats were found near the Metzudat David farm. The animals reportedly died after coming into contact with poison. In total, dozens of livestock animals, cattle, and dogs have reportedly been injured or killed in such incidents.
The cases appear to involve a variety of methods. In some instances, dates, pita bread, and other food items containing a substance suspected to be poisonous were left in grazing areas. In others, the suspected substance was placed directly into water troughs and drinking reservoirs.
On several occasions, trackers reportedly found footprints and trails leading toward nearby Arab communities.
The incidents come amid heightened tensions in the area. On August 30, stones were thrown at herders along the quarries route. At the same time, a herder was injured during an altercation with an activist near Rimonim Square and required medical treatment after losing consciousness.
Following the discovery of the dead goats at Metzudat David farm, another confrontation reportedly took place between an activist and a herder at the site. The regional council said the apparent proximity between activists' activities in the area and the timing of incidents in which animals were injured or killed raises questions that warrant investigation by law enforcement authorities.
Binyamin Regional Council head and Yesha Council chairman Israel Gantz warned against ignoring the incidents.
"If we remain silent while goats are poisoned, we will mourn when Israelis are poisoned. Don't say the warning signs weren't there," Gantz said.
"The State of Israel has been preparing for years for the possibility of drinking water being poisoned. Yet here, before our very eyes, water sources used by livestock are already being contaminated," he continued.
"We cannot wait until this method is directed against human beings. I call on the security establishment to act decisively against the Al-Mu'eyyer terrorists, who have demonstrated over the years the will, intent, and ability to murder Israelis. We must apprehend those responsible and put an end to this phenomenon now, before it is too late."
