The Likud and MK Tally Gotliv reached an agreement on Thursday, opening the way for her to run on the Otzma Yehudit Party's slate in the upcoming Knesset elections.
As part of the agreement, it was determined that Gotliv would be able to move to Itamar Ben-Gvir's party without being declared to have resigned from the Likud faction.
Along with this, Gotliv will continue to be obligated to vote along Likud party lines until the next Knesset is sworn in. A short statement from the Likud read: "We wish Tally success."
The agreement comes after Otzma Yehudit Chairman Itamar Ben-Gvir issued an ultimatum to senior Likud officials, demanding that all formal steps required to complete the move be taken.
Ben-Gvir said he plans to begin notifying his party’s candidates of their positions on the Knesset list, a process that could make it difficult to make changes or undo the move at a later stage.
Gotliv herself clarified that she has not ruled out moving parties if she were to receive an offer that would reflect her status and political power. “I have sacrificed myself for the prime minister and the right-wing government," she wrote on social media.
She said that if a party offered a substantive arrangement that respected her voters and enabled her to seek a significant ministerial position, she would seriously consider it on their behalf.
