The terrorist Atif Sabihi, who murdered Danny Katz and IDF soldier Dafna Carmon, died on Thursday in the hospital. He was still in custody and never expressed remorse for his brutal actions.
Before his arrest, the terrorist worked as a tractor operator and as a security guard for Israel Railways, Haifa University, and at construction sites. On December 8th, 1983, 14-year-old Danny Katz left his home in Haifa and did not return, leading the police to launch a search for him. Three days later, a shepherd found the boy's body with signs of physical abuse on it near a cave.
Two weeks after the murder, the terrorist was arrested along with four other Arabs. Three of them confessed and implicated him and another suspect. They denied the charges but were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. Following a prolonged legal battle, the defendants were granted a retrial and were convicted again in 2000.
Sabihi was also arrested along with three family members for the 1982 murder of IDF soldier Dafna Carmon. He was sentenced to life imprisonment plus 15 years. In this case as well, the defendants demanded a retrial, but it was rejected.
