Democrats Party Chairman Yair Golan announced on Tuesday that he intends to take legal action against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's wife, Sara Netanyahu, for remarks she made against him in an interview with Channel 14.
Speaking with Galei Tzahal Radio, Golan clarified: "We will certainly submit a lawsuit against Sara Netanyahu."
Yashar Party Chairman Gadi Esenkot also addressed Mrs. Netanyahu's remarks, saying: "The crazy treason conspiracy theory, which has no factual basis, that the Prime Minister's wife spread last night is meant only to ignite hate."
Eisenkot expressed support for Golan and mentioned his actions on the morning of October 7th: "I support my friend Yair Golan, who fought for the State of Israel, and on the morning of October 7th as well, showed responsibility and courage and heroically saved lives."
In her remarks in Monday's interview, Sara Netanyahu implied that Golan had prior knowledge of Hamas's plans to attack Israel. "You claim you were a fighter on October 7; you were already there early in the morning, already dressed and ready. At a very early hour, when others didn't know, such as the Prime Minister. After all, who is the Prime Minister that he needs to know that a war has broken out? Why inform him?" Mrs. Netanyahu said cynically, referring to Golan.
Asked directly about her position on the "betrayal theory," according to which people inside Israel assisted in the deadly attack, she replied, "I don't want to talk about it. I don't know. Let there be a real commission of inquiry."
