A passenger ferry carrying about 270 people capsized today (Sunday) off the northern coast of Cyprus. Rescue services and the coast guard were dispatched to the area and are working to evacuate the passengers and crew.
According to reports, the ferry capsized off the coast of Kyrenia shortly after setting out. Its destination was Taşköprü in Turkey.
The mayor of Kyrenia said that the vessel had about 270 passengers and crew. Coast guard forces and additional vessels have arrived at the scene and are taking part in the rescue operation.
