Popular Israeli singer Omer Adam married Sacha Israelovich on Wednesday evening in a lavish affair in Portofino, Italy. Approximately 100 guests were invited to the wedding.
Officiating at the chuppah ceremony were Rabbi Levi Yitzhak Hazzan, the Chabad emissary in Milan, and Rabbi Mendi Gurviz, the Chabad emissary in Mishmar Hashiva. During the ceremony, the emissary blew a shofar.
Musical accompaniment was provided by Hassidic singer Motty Steinmetz, whose music Adam is a fan of. Among the songs Steinmetz performed during the ceremony were the prayer "Ana Bekoach" and "Im Eshkachech Yerushalaim" (If I forget thee, O Jerusalem).
As previously reported, women and men were seated separately at the ceremony. Steinmetz conditions his appearance at weddings on separate seating at the ceremony, and the condition is enshrined in his contract.
According to those close to Steinmetz, anyone inviting him to perform at a wedding is aware of the demand in advance. Accordingly, Adam and Israelovich's wedding ceremony was separate as well.
The wedding was held at an extraordinary event venue at a converted 14th-century Christian monastery in Portofino, Italy. Guests were asked to leave their mobile phones at the entrance to maintain the event's privacy.
The guests left Israel for Milan on Tuesday via private jet. From there, they were taken to Portofino, where a reception was held before the main event, which was held a day later.
