The cellphones of two senior staffers at Gadi Eisenkot's Yashar Party campaign headquarters were found to be infected with malware, Channel 12 reported on Wednesday. According to the report, Eisenkot himself is not one of the two senior officials whose phones were infected.
In recent weeks, the headquarters has been conducting inspections of the phones of a group of employees, including senior officials. As part of the inspections, the devices are scanned for malware.
According to the report, in two different instances, such malware was found on the phones of two senior staffers. The purpose of these programs is to listen and collect information.
Despite the findings, the Eisenkot campaign did not submit a complaint to the police. Instead, it is working daily with a security company that scans the senior staff members' phones.
Along with the cell phone inspections, the campaign conducted security measures to protect its computers.
