Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a security situational assessment at Central Command on Monday regarding the security challenges in Judea and Samaria.

The discussion was attended by the Defense Minister, IDF Chief of Staff, National Security Council chief, Central Command commander, head of the IDF Intelligence Directorate, head of the Operations Directorate, commander of the Judea and Samaria Division, and other senior officials.

Defense Minister Israel Katz summed up the situational assessment, saying: “We were presented with a picture of everything taking place in the sector: the map of threats, the fight against terrorism, and the dramatic growth in settlement. The remarkable thing is the figure presented to us showing that the number of Palestinian terrorist attacks in Judea and Samaria has declined for the second consecutive year, reaching levels we have never seen before."

He added: “Praise goes to the IDF commanders and soldiers and to the Israel Security Agency, who act with courage and dedication to carry out their missions in accordance with the government’s offensive policy in the fight against terrorism. This includes the directive we issued to evacuate residents from the refugee camps in northern Samaria, destroy the terrorist infrastructure there, and maintain a permanent IDF presence in the camps-something that has severely damaged terrorist capabilities and made a major contribution to the dramatic decline."
