Chuppah

"Though my father and mother forsake me, the L-rd will take me in."

In just a few days, Levi and Sarah will stand together beneath the chuppah. At the moment when most couples are surrounded by parents and family, they will arrive almost entirely on their own.

Levi Bernstein became observant, left Germany, and made aliyah to Israel alone. He lost his father and has no real family support or financial means to begin married life.

Sarah is also a "ba'alat teshuvah" (returnee to Judaism) who has had to build her life largely on her own. Her parents divorced when she was seven. After her father remarried, he cut off contact with her, and her mother is not in a position to support her. Today Sarah studies at Neve Yerushalayim and is lovingly supported by a caring family there.

Two young people who chose to build new lives filled with faith and hope are now preparing to build a Jewish home together.

>> Stand beside Levi and Sarah

  • $72 toward their first basic household needs
  • $180 to help the bride and groom prepare for the wedding
  • $360 to become a meaningful partner in building their new home
  • $1,000 to give them a strong and dignified new beginning

This is our opportunity to be the family that stands beside them and helps bring them to the chuppah with dignity and joy.
