I’ve been hearing it on the internet, and from people sending me nasty emails, the message that Israel is acting too tough.
How can I, a nice guy like me, support this?
You bet I support this, even if it means losing friends, and maybe I am not such a nice guy after all.
Remember what Leo Durocher is supposed to have said…" Nice guys finish last."
Such was Israel on plenty of occasions, when time after time it sat down with its sworn enemies, and, AND agreed to give up Jewish territory for the sake of PEACE.
I remember all that very well. I covered it as a journalist, and I knew none of it would hold…Israel beholden to a piece of paper.
I remember the Rebbe pleading with Israel to stop giving away Jewish land.
In the language comfortable to me, I wrote, “The world is playing you for a sucker."
Peace? What peace? Even after 1,000 to one prisoner exchanges, even with promises to divide the land in the Arabs’ favor, more war instead of peace.
I should write a book titled, Some People Never Learn. For sure enough, back then, the same leaders who believed, well, they believed again and again in peace for our time.
Churchill believed in nothing less than TOTAL VICTORY. Plainly that “for the sake of survival."
Netanyahu appears to be a man with the same understanding. Softness does not work in this world. Maybe in some other world. Not this one.
Oct. 7, did something to Bibi. It toughened him. It taught him to distrust the enemy, and the world which proclaims love not for the Jewish State, but for “Palestine."
They…the nations put it like this, yes, Oct. 7 was terrible, BUT. But that gives Israel no excuse to act so tough.
Israel is taking it too personal. In other words, Oct.7, so what? Why not just go on as if nothing happened? Make Peace. Peace in our time.

Dear Mr. Roosevelt, Pearl Harbor, why denounce it as a crime which will live In infamy? Why make war? Make peace.
Dec. 7, 1941 changed everything. For FDR, it was a matter of survival. No peace with Japan until they surrendered unconditionally.
No peace with Hitler until the Nazis were defeated utterly
Survival…that is the quest.
Israel cannot survive while “Palestine" remains a threat, thus Israel remains a nation still at war…"if necessary alone."
War Crimes, the nations allege. Sorry about that, but Israel must do whatever the cost to preserve and protect the nation.
