Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu published a video on Sunday afternoon addressing the drone threat and concerns that it could spread to the Gaza arena as well.
“Do you have a drone at home? It can be deadly. If they come in swarms and are armed, they are very precise and difficult to see," Netanyahu began.
He emphasized, “For several years now, we have been working on a solution to the drone problem. We are the most advanced in the world, but this is a global problem. We saw it in Ukraine, we saw it in Lebanon, we saw it in Iran, and now they are trying to revive it and bring it into Gaza."
According to Netanyahu, the defense establishment will fight the new threat on the southern front with all its strength.
“My directive to the defense establishment and the IDF is to do everything against this deadly weapon. Strike it, strike its operators, strike the location from which it was launched-do everything to protect our citizens, in the Gaza border communities and everywhere else."
Earlier, Defense Minister Israel Katz instructed the IDF to take all necessary measures to prevent launches from Gaza toward the communities of the western Negev, including targeting the Hamas leaders responsible for the launches and their execution, evacuating areas from which launches are carried out, and taking action against terrorist infrastructure.
“We regard every launch as an act of war in every respect," Minister Katz said.
