Jonathan Pollard is joining the “Israel First” party, headed by MK Sharren Haskel

Jonathan Pollard announced on Sunday that he is joining the Israel First party, led by MK Sharren Haskel, and will be supporting it in the upcoming elections. The announcement was made during a joint declaration at the Western Wall in Jerusalem.

Pollard, who in June announced his intentions to enter political life, said that he believes in Haskel and her path, and explained that he chose to support the party since it exemplifies, according to him, Zionist and nationalist leadership that puts Israel's security at the forefront of the agenda and does not apologize for the country's Jewish character.

Party Chairwoman MK Sharren Haskel congratulated Pollard and said that his addition significantly strengthens "Israel First." She said that the trust he expressed in her was a great privilege and responsibility, and emphasized that the party would work to strengthen security, settlement, and Jerusalem.

Lt. Col. (res.) Roi Danino also commented on Pollard’s decision to join, saying it represents a significant boost to a Zionist and national movement that places Israel’s security and future at the top of its agenda.
