IDF troops operating in the central Gaza Strip on Friday identified a terrorist from the Hamas terrorist organization, who was armed with a knife, while approaching the Yellow Line, intending to cross it, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said.

The troops continuously monitored the terrorist, and after he crossed the Yellow Line, he was taken for questioning in Israeli territory, the statement added.

“IDF troops under the Southern Command remain deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement and will continue to operate to remove any immediate threat," it concluded.

On Tuesday evening, the IDF struck Hamas Nukhba commanders while they were holding a meeting in the Shati area, near the Gaza port. According to Arab reports, seven people were killed in the strike, and 14 others were wounded.

Gazans reported that the strike targeted a café in the coastal area of Gaza City. The IDF stated that among those targeted were a company commander, three platoon commanders, and additional terrorists.

According to the IDF, the terrorists who met at the site were advancing plans for terrorist attacks against forces operating in the Gaza Strip. The military added that one of the terrorists targeted in the strike participated in the October 7 massacre and infiltrated Israeli territory that day.

The IDF noted that prior to the strike, measures were taken to minimize harm to uninvolved civilians. The military said it would provide an update on the results of the strike at a later time.

Defense Minister Israel Katz commented on the strike, saying, “Israel’s policy in Gaza, as made clear to the IDF by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and by me, is clear: We eliminate threats, eliminate terrorists, and settle the score with everyone who took part in the October 7 massacre."

Katz added, “That is how the IDF acted today in eliminating the Hamas terrorists, and that is how it will continue to act with force in order to protect our soldiers and ensure quiet for the communities of southern Israel - from within the security zone."
