New footage obtained as part of the investigation into the disappearance of Mali and Liel Yahalomi shows the two leaving the apartment building where they were staying in Vienna, carrying their personal belongings, with no other person seen alongside them.
The mother and daughter have not contacted their family for approximately a week. Following the report of their disappearance, a joint investigation was launched by Austrian and Israeli police. At the same time, searches have been expanded to additional European countries amid assessments that the two are no longer in Austria.
A senior official familiar with the investigation said that the current assessment is that the two are still alive, but stressed that investigators still do not know what led to their disappearance.
Police also note that although suspicions that the incident was nationalistically motivated have weakened, no avenue of investigation has been definitively ruled out at this stage.
“No avenue of investigation has been ruled out. There are still many unanswered questions," an official involved in the investigation said.
