Central Command chief Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth decided, contrary to Defense Minister Israel Katz’s request, to renew the administrative restraining order against Tal Yinon Dardik, who is suspected of assaulting a Palestinian.
Blot ordered Dardik to be barred from Judea and Samaria, except for the city of Modi’in Illit, where he will be required to report to a police station and sign in twice a day.
Defense Minister Katz demanded that Maj. Gen. Bluth not renew the administrative order against Dardik. However, since the authority to issue such an order does not fall under the defense minister’s jurisdiction, Bluth exercised his authority and renewed it.
Tomorrow, Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court Judge Amir Shaked is expected to hear an application by the Honenu legal aid organization for Dardik’s immediate release from detention.
In the petition, filed by attorney Moshe Polsky, the court was asked to order Dardik’s immediate release, following a decision by the Jerusalem District Court to reject an appeal filed by Central Command chief Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth and uphold the military court’s ruling that the previous administrative order was unworkable and should be revoked.
The renewal of the order could now call the entire request for Dardik’s release into question.
