Israel's Consul General in New York, Ofir Akunis, announced on Friday that he has ordered the cancellation of all New York Times subscriptions held by employees of the Israeli Consulate in New York.
According to Akunis, the decision follows what he described as "a series of false blood libels and ongoing incitement against the Jewish state" published by the newspaper.
Announcing the move, Akunis said, "I have ordered the cancellation of subscriptions to the New York Times, a newspaper that consistently incites against the Jewish state."
Referring to a recent report in the newspaper, Akunis accused the publication of relying on unreliable sources.
"Another blood libel from 'anonymous sources' in the New York Times against the State of Israel," he said.
He added, "Let me remind you who their 'sources' were for the previous blood libel - Hamas terrorists!"
