An Israeli mother and her son from Samaria narrowly escaped a violent mob attack after they accidentally entered Jenin on Thursday afternoon due to a navigation error while driving to friends in Afula. A short time after entering the Palestinian Authority-controlled city, the two were attacked by Arab terrorists.
According to initial details, the terrorists threw a brick at the Israeli vehicle and attempted to approach it and attack its occupants.
The two civilians managed to escape on their own and leave the city unharmed. They continued to the Jalame Checkpoint, where they linked up with IDF forces. Their vehicle was damaged.
The mother recounted the horrifying incident: "My eldest son and I wanted to get to Afula to meet friends. While driving, when we were stuck in traffic, I understood that we had misnavigated and that Waze brought us through Jenin. When the traffic cleared, dozens of Arabs started approaching us. They tried to open the doors, threw rocks at us, and attempted to stop us. We drove at full speed, and I managed to get out of there with my son. Thank G-d we survived."
Following the incident, IDF forces entered Jenin, where they closed shops in the area where the attack occurred and began questioning suspects for their involvement in the incident.
The defense establishment is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident, along with operations to locate those involved in the attack.
