Alam Fares, 32, from the Druze town of Hurfeish in northern Israel, was killed after falling from a high altitude in the Alps near the Swiss-Italian border.
Residents of Hurfeish were left stunned by the tragic news, and the local council released an official statement of mourning.
"With great sorrow, heavy hearts, and faithful acceptance of God's will, we announce the passing of one of our own, Alam Fares," the community statement read.
