The Tourism Ministry announced that despite the unstable security situation, representatives of some 20 countries and from most of the country's domestic tourism sectors arrived at the Israel's International Tourism Fair last week. Among the countries represented at the fair were Holland, Ukraine, Poland, Greece, Cyprus, India, Italy, Nepal, and Thailand.
The purpose of the event was to encourage tourism to Israel and to tighten cooperation in this field with countries across the globe. Among the topics discussed were: domestic tourism; nationwide information centers; the choice between direct marketing and travel agencies; and more. The bottom line, as expressed by Tourism Minister Benny Elon at the start of the day, is, "We must not allow terrorism to defeat tourism."
