One Newsweek journalist from the United States and his British photographer were kidnapped yesterday by PA elements and held for about five hours. Arab sources called it a \"warning\" that the U.S. and Britain must cease their support of Israel. Newsweek chairman and editor-in-chief Richard Smith released a statement expressing \"outrage that two journalists who were doing their job were subjected to this kind of treatment.\"

A group calling itself the Fatah Hawks released a statement saying, \"Palestinian blood will not be spilled without the American and British people paying the price. This operation comes as a message to the U.S. and British governments to reconsider their calculations, and that all their citizens in Palestine and the Arab world will be subject to abduction and killing in case the full, biased and unjustified support [for Israel] continues.\" Official PA sources denied any PA connection with the incident.

In a related item, it should be noted that protests against biased coverage sometimes work. Following protests from the British Parliament and Jewish organizations, the BBC last week decided to stop working with freelance journalist Faisal Bodi, who has openly opposed Israel\'s right to exist.
