An IDF soldier was moderately wounded and another soldier was lightly wounded yesterday by an explosive drone strike in southern Lebanon. The two were evacuated for medical treatment and their families were notified.
The drone threat continues to exact a heavy toll, including in loss of life. Last night, it was cleared for publication that Sgt. First Class Noam Hamburger, 23, from Atlit, a technology and maintenance soldier in Battalion 9 of the 401st “Iron Tracks" Brigade, was killed during operational activity in northern Israel. In the same incident in which Sgt. First Class Hamburger was killed, an IDF soldier was seriously wounded and a non-commissioned officer was lightly wounded.
The investigation found that Hezbollah launched two explosive drones toward the Biranit outpost, an IDF post located between Kibbutz Sasa and Moshav Netu’a, about one kilometer from the Lebanese border and inside Israeli territory. The attack occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m.
As a result of the first drone striking the outpost, Sgt. First Class Hamburger was killed. Two additional soldiers were seriously and moderately wounded and evacuated to Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya for treatment. The second drone strike caused no casualties.
