The latest Arab attack against Israel again took advantage of the hard-to-seal Green Line near Tulkarm/Kalkilye and targeted Netanya once again. This time, a car bomb was parked at a bus stop in an industrial area of the city, near the ORT High School. It was apparently timed to go off just as students were scheduled to gather there for their ride home, but once again the miraculous occurred, and the bus in fact left the spot only minutes before the car exploded. The only injuries from the blast - which left absolutely nothing of the back half of the car - were caused to seven youths who were treated for shock in a nearby hospital.
Last night, the Palestinian Authority strategy of attempting to paralyze life in Israel was strongly felt along one of the country\'s main arteries. Traffic on the all-important Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway was stopped for two hours after a large explosive device was discovered near the Motza bend. Cars were kept away from the area, and the five-kilogram gas canister bomb was exploded shortly afterwards, causing damage only to a police robot. This morning, another explosive was found between the lower Galilee communities of Magen Sha\'ul and Ram On, very close to Samaria. Here again, the bomb was composed of explosives and a gas canister, and a police robot was the only casualty.
Paratrooper Commander Brig.-Gen. Yisrael Ziv said today that the problem of safeguarding Israel\'s highways requires many more resources. He said that restricting free Palestinian traffic would have to be taken into consideration.
Two mortar shells exploded near Atzmonah in Gaza this morning. No one was hurt… Afterwards, eight Molotov cocktails were thrown at an IDF outpost near the Rafiach crossing, and a battle ensued. No Israelis were hurt... Rocks were thrown at a passenger train at the northern entrance to Be\'er Sheva last night; no one was hurt, but a window was broken... The community of Psagot, north of Jerusalem, was attacked by terrorist gunfire from the nearby PA city of el-Bireh last night. There were no injuries, and soldiers did not return fire... Israeli motorists south of Shilo and near N\'vei Dekalim escaped unharmed from terrorist shooting attacks last night.
