Two Jewish homes in an outlying neighborhood of the town of Elon Moreh were attacked last night by Palestinian terrorists.

At around midnight the two armed terrorists infiltrated the neighborhood and fired a full magazine of bullets through the wooden walls and windows of a Jewish family's home. Upon hearing a lull in the automatic fire, the father stuck his head out the window and found one of the terrorists, three feet away, reloading his weapon. He immediately fired upon the terrorist, killing him. The other terrorist, who hid behind a car, was killed when two neighbors, age 19 and 20, shot him through the car windows, from the opposite side.

"The professionalism, quick wits, and self-sacrifice of these residents is incredible," said Avner Milchi, of Elon Moreh's first-response security team, speaking about last night's events. "By the time we arrived, the shooting had ended and the residents had already succeeded in preventing what would have been a very deadly attack."

"A great miracle" is how the community describes last night's events. The young mother had gotten up from the couch in her living room to go to bed moments before the attack. She and her husband returned to the room afterward and found the couch and walls of the room riddled with tens of bullet-holes.

"We can't rely on these miracles repeating themselves, though," added Milichi. "The first-response team is looking to purchase sophisticated night-vision equipment to be able to prevent future such infiltrations."

Elon Moreh, located east of Shechem and just west of the Jordan Valley, has been the target of several terrorist attacks since the start of the Oslo War. The guns used in this most recent attack were Kalachnikov assault rifles - the brand of weapon supplied by Israel to the Palestinian Authority as part of the Oslo Accords.
