The Lag Ba'Omer festival kicked off on Monday night at the tomb of the 2nd-Century sage, Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, in Meron, northern Israel, with three traditional bonfires: one lit by the Grand Rabbi of the Boyaner hassidic court, another by Zionist rabbis, and the third by former Sephardic Chief Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar. Due to the tense security situation, attendance at the events was limited.
