The State of Israel will compensate an Arab resident of Gaza who was wounded in the first intifada, in the 1980's, to the tune of 588,000 shekels. The man, Bassam Abdallah Hassan Rian, was hit by IDF fire and is considered 88% incapacitated. Israel originally denied responsibility for his wounds, but later agreed to the compromise that was accepted in a Haifa court yesterday.
