Sergeant First Class Guy Ludar, who fell yesterday in southern Lebanon after being hit by friendly fire, will be laid to rest today (Sunday) in the military section of the Misgav Regional Cemetery.

Israel’s National Transplant Center announced that, with his family’s decision, Guy’s organs will be donated. Loder had signed an “Adi" donor card. Consent for the donation was given at the Poriya Medical Center in northern Israel. His tissues were donated in order to save lives.

His cousin, who also serves in a combat role in the IDF, eulogized him on Kan Reshet Bet: “Guy was a very special child, teenager, and man. Always positive, always around people, and very sociable. He loved sports very much. He climbed for many years, loved playing basketball with friends, and enjoyed hiking. He was also part of a pre-military scouting program and served as an instructor in the HaNoar HaOved youth movement in his community."

He described Guy’s determination to enlist in a combat role: “It wasn’t easy for him to get accepted into Maglan, this prestigious unit. At first, they didn’t want to enlist him for combat-his medical profile was a bit too low. He made great efforts and went between hospitals until he managed to raise his profile."

According to him, Guy initially enlisted in one of the IDF’s special units and spent a year in training there. He later reached Maglan, where he underwent additional selection in order to join the team with which he served in combat.

Addressing the fact that he was killed by friendly fire, he said: “The pain is the same pain, as far as I’m concerned. I send strength from here to his parents-it is very difficult for them. He has an older sister and a younger brother, and I send them strength as well."
