A channel linked to Iranian state television claimed Friday that a US fighter pilot ejected from an aircraft over southwestern Iran.

It remains unclear what happened to the plane, including whether Iran alleges it was shot down or experienced another malfunction. If confirmed, the incident could mark a further escalation in the war as it approaches its fifth week. The US did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The channel’s anchor called on residents to hand over any “enemy pilot" to authorities, offering a reward. The report originated from Kohkilouyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province, a largely rural and mountainous area covering more than 15,500 square kilometers.

An earlier on-screen message urged the public to “shoot them if you see them," referring to circulating social media footage purportedly showing US aircraft in the region.
