Even the Fatah's Secretary-General, Hussein A-Sheikh, does not promise total safety for Jews in Israel. "Despite the poverty, suffering, and killing," he told Al-Jazeera television, "the Palestinians will continue their struggle… We will not give Israelis free security."
Speaking with Arutz-7's Haggai Segal today, he said that Fatah is against terrorist activities within pre-'67 Israel - but implied that terrorism in Yesha would stop only after Israel agrees to dismantle the communities therein. This would involve the relocation of some 250,000 people, not including almost the same amount in greater Jerusalem.
After today's bombing in Kfar Sava, a high alert was declared in the area - which ended this afternoon when two terrorists were arrested in the Shomron on their way to carry out the feared terrorist attack. They had planned to enter pre-1967 Israel with Kalachnikov rifles, which were in fact found in their possession, and shoot wildly at passers-by. The security alert was removed following the arrest. Around the same time, four terrorists traveling in a car near Gush Katif were arrested with 14 Kalachnikov rifles in their possession.
In other terrorism news yesterday, a bomb was found and dismantled in the Sharon area of pre-'67 Israel… The IDF arrested the Islamic Jihad leader in Shechem, as well as 12 other terrorist suspects in Shechem and Bethlehem... Only a few hours before Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and other leading government figures gathered for post-Passover Mimouna celebrations in the Negev city of Sderot yesterday, Palestinian terrorists fired a Kassam rocket at the city. The missile landed near a kindergarten and a synagogue, but no one was hurt. Thousands of people gathered in the town's central square to greet and hear Sharon, Defense Minister Sha'ul Mofaz, Histadrut Labor Union chief Amir Peretz, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Moshe Yaalon, American Ambassador to Israel Dan Kurtzer, and others.
A Palestinian terrorist was killed in a "work accident" while preparing a bomb in his home near Hevron yesterday. His mother and three siblings, who were apparently nearby as he was preparing the lethal device, were seriously wounded in the blast. The dead terrorist is expected to be added to the PA's list of Palestinians killed in the "ongoing violence."
