The Jewish community of Hevron played host once again this year to thousands of visitors during the Passover holiday. During the past two days alone, about 40,000 people visited Hevron, touring, praying at Ma'arat HaMachpela (Cave of the Patriarchs), and participating in the semi-annual music festival. Hevron leaders expressed great satisfaction that despite yesterday's rainy weather and the security situation, the Jewish people have again voted with their feet.

"If anyone had any doubts about the love of Am Yisrael for Hevron and the Hevron Jewish community, these past few days have again proven that those doubts were unfounded. The Jewish people, in Israel or in the Diaspora, will never allow the roots of our nation to be uprooted," Hevron Jewish community spokesmen said.

One group of visitors did not make it to Hevron, however. IDF soldiers yesterday prevented several buses of far-left Peace Now activists from reaching the city. As reported yesterday, four of the activists were arrested at the Gush Etzion Junction when they attempted to run an army checkpoint in a closed military zone.
